Springtime in Georgia and the Carolinas

We have been enjoying some spectacular weather as we wander up the east coast, visiting places we have never been, adding to the list of places to visit again. March has been a slower pace; we had the time and didn't want to get ahead of the nice spring weather.

Sunset from Jekyll Island - pelicans making a low pass

North from Jekyll Island, Route 17 bridge near Brunswick, GA

Along the ICW

Easier to avoid the crab pots at low tide

All alone at sunset off St Catherines Island

Helpful bird marking the crab pot ;)

Redbud trees in Isle of Hope - so different looking draped in Spanish Moss

Castaway Restaurant in Isle of Hope - the food and murals were fantastic

I wasn't expecting all the spring flowers

Have seen lots of free libraries on the loop

Daufuskie Island

Emilie B in Beaufort, SC - we'll get to Beaufort, NC next week

Sunlight coming through the bridge cutouts in Beaufort, SC

Another sunrise as we start our travel day

I end up looking up lots of things as we travel - this really was a traveling orchestra, and the boat is in the process of being saved from the scrap yard to eventually be refurbished and docked in Philadelphia

Hard to tell from the picture - this Travelift is huge - 820MT

7:20AM - on our way past Charleston, SC

Not abandoned, just low tide anchorage (nice soaking tub on the top deck)

Going through the ICW at low tide - definitely want to stay in the channel

I try to visit artist cooperatives when they exist and have seen so much wonderful original art and spoken to so many interesting artists - would have loved to take this one home, unfortunately way too big for the boat

High tide on the ICW, about 6-foot swings

Our travel group on this day were boats from ME, NH and CT (waiting for the swing bridge)

Emilie B as we cruised by south of Myrtle Beach

Seems like a perfect place for solar

House painted to match mermaid?

Kyra's favorite sleeping time is when we're underway

Wisteria growing wild

Southport, NC - container ships transit a winding channel on the way to Wilmington, SC - this is the view from our marina

Mermaid swimming lesson - porch art in Southport, NC

Travelling on the ICW from MM684 to MM309 - Norfolk, VA is Mile Marker 0
