Emilie B Goes International!

We are currently enjoying a relaxing 3 night stay in Montreal Old Port. It is a great location right in the center of the city. We had an uneventful clearing into Canada and a pleasant ride to the first lock on the Chambly Canal. At this time of year, you can only lock through 2x per day, and we were there for the 1PM lockage. We had a chance to pick up delicious baguette sandwiches and take a look at the first lock before we started. There was a sailboat that we had seen at customs that also wanted to go through, but it was very obvious that there would be no room for another boat in the locks. These locks were a bit more stressful as fenders needed adjustment during the ups and down and there just wasn't any extra room. We were too busy to take pictures in the lock, but I think you will be able to appreciate the size of the empty locks.

Kyra has started snacking whenever I do - this time it was Cheetos

Waiting for our lock time of 1PM

Excited to be in Canada - ready for a day of locking

Chambly Canal - we are in a very small canal next to the Richelieu River

Flowers along the way

At the end of the locks in Chambly Basin - Emilie B looking petite between our friends Voyager and new friends going back to Burlington, VT

Looks like another nice day in store for tomorrow

We decided on a short cruise to St. Ours to be fresh for our trip up the St. Lawrence River to Montreal in the morning.

St. Ours Lock is next to a Parks Canada camping site

For the campers and boaters!

On our way to the St. Lawrance - nice way to commute across the Richelieu

Ship traffic on the St. Lawrence - they easily pass us

Current NOT helping us - some boaters don't come into downtown Montreal because the current against them is too much - Emilie B took it in stride!

Montreal

Montreal has a public beach next to the marina - no swimming allowed

Emilie B in downtown Montreal at the Old Port - it is a great location!

This has been another great segment - Sunday we depart toward Ottawa
