Lots of Locks!

We have just completed day 34 of our adventure and while each day is unique, we have been going through a lot of locks lately. Today we did 10, which brings us to a total of 52 to date. All but 3 have been Parks Canada, meaning they are run by Parks Canada and are of historical significance. All the lock masters are really nice, mostly young (summer jobs) and quite helpful in getting you to your planned destination of the day. Locking can be a bit stressful, each one an opportunity to improve on your technique (reminds of learning how to land an airplane and just when you think you have it, the next one is not quite as good) and at the end of the day, you certainly feel like you have accomplished something.  We are a bit "lock fatigued" and after another 8 locks tomorrow, we'll stay put for a couple of days to reprovision and then finish up the Rideau Canal in Kingston, ON early next week.

We had beautiful weather in Montreal, perfect for walking and enjoying the sites

Carillon Lock - Parks Canada - notice how many flights of stairs in front of the sailboat

Same view - on our way out after rising 65 ft

Always on the lookout for aircraft

At the Montebello Marina - watched this ultralight take off a little later in the day

This flight of 8 locks through the center of Ottawa is both exciting and a bit intimidating - we checked it out the day before we did it ourselves.

On our way to the Flight of 8!

Waiting at the bottom for the locks to open to make our way up about 80 ft

Still waiting...

At the lock wall in Merrickville, ON - early dinner of poutine and ice cream - perfect ending to the day!

Not sure what is going wrong with the Max. Knots - we pretty much travel at the "No Wake" speed the majority of the time
