The past month has been filled with getting the Emilie B out of winter storage, getting the house ready for our absence, various preventative maintenance on ourselves and the most wonderful gatherings of family and friends wishing us a safe and happy voyage. Winter Prep

Image
Hard to believe it is 2024, we can finally stop adding the year when talking about our departure month. While Emilie B is on the hard, David is working hard on the electrical system, getting everything mocked up at home to simplify the installation on the boat. Maybe he'll post about all the work he has done to satisfy my request to be able to use an appliance (microwave, hair dryer, instapot, etc) while we are at anchor without turning on the generator. He has upgraded Emilie B from 2003 technology to state of the art. The new helm station reminds me of the Bonanza and reflects David's great skills. I can't imagine taking on all this work if we had to hire and pay others. David is also making sure all the mechanical systems are in top condition, with the engine and tank compartments looking like new. Meanwhile, I have been working through the lists of what we needed/wanted to live aboard comfortably for a year. New bedding to be custom fitted to the mattress, new appliance...

It provides lots of information and will allow me to post maps like this of our progress over the course of any time period.  Kyra modeling her PFD. We think she liked cruising and all the activity outside the windows. In Jamestown, RI Sunset back in Hampton after a successful cruise. We all are looking forward to departing in May 2024. Ports of call: 1 - Glouster, MA - mooring / traveled through the Annisquam River, waited for the bridge to lift, spent the night exposed to the sea, very rolly. 2 - Scituate, MA - marina - had dock help to "muscle" us in, learn to call out "feet remaining", celebrated Jimmy Buffet's life with margaritas at lunch. Wonderful stay. 3 - Mattapoisett, MA - mooring (complimentary from broker's brother) / rough ride through Buzzard's Bay, ask if not sure (rock buoy). 4,5 - Jamestown, RI - mooring (c...
